Former Site of the 11th Army Headquarters

The former site of the 11th Army Headquarters is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The former site of the 11th Army Headquarters led by Ye Ting is located within the Second Middle School (formerly known as Xinyuan Middle School) beside East Lake in Baihuazhou, Nanchang. It is a two-story brick-and-wood Western-style building in the shape of the Chinese character “工” (work). The upper floor served as the army headquarters office and meeting rooms, while the lower floor housed the guards. On the afternoon of July 27, 1927, at 2 PM, Ye Ting held a meeting here with officers above the rank of battalion commander to announce the decision to launch an armed uprising and assign combat tasks. The interior has now been restored to its original appearance, reflecting the setup of the headquarters at that time.

This site was originally built in 1925 as one of the school buildings constructed when Xiong Yuyang founded Xinyuan Middle School. It is a two-story brick-and-wood Western-style building facing south, with a large, leafy old camphor tree on the east side. The upper floor served as the army headquarters office and meeting rooms, while the lower floor housed the guards. On the afternoon of July 27, 1927, at 2 PM, Ye Ting held a meeting here with officers above the rank of battalion commander to announce the Chinese Communist Party’s decision to stage an armed uprising and assign combat tasks. The facilities of the headquarters at that time have now been restored to their original condition.
