Recently, the construction of the Patagonia flagship store located in the sunken plaza of Sanlitun SOHO in Beijing has entered the construction phase. According to CORA, the Chinese agency for Patagonia, the store will cover an area of over 1,000 square meters and is expected to open in September. At that time, CORA will integrate its brands including Patagonia, Gregory, and KEEN into the store, and will further introduce an outdoor-themed café, bar, restaurant, as well as projects such as eco-tourism and outdoor sports clubs, collectively forming an Eco Village. It will provide a one-stop solution for shopping, dining, accommodation, entertainment, and other lifestyle needs, creating a collaborative, mutually beneficial, and sustainable outdoor industry ecosystem. The Eco Village will become a gathering place for outdoor and environmental enthusiasts in Beijing and even across China.

It is understood that after its first decade of rapid growth, China’s outdoor industry has entered a period of slower expansion. Consumer behavior has gradually become more mature and rational, with increasing demands for the quality of outdoor products and services. The traditional model of selling only outdoor gear and organizing outdoor trips primarily through online communities can no longer meet the current needs of outdoor consumers. The market now requires more professional, one-stop solutions—customizing travel plans and equipment lists based on factors such as consumers’ income levels, cultural backgrounds, interests, and other internal and external considerations—while also establishing systematic training, sharing, and communication environments to achieve industrial ecological balance and sustainable development.

Patagonia is not only committed to sustainable business practices but also makes unremitting efforts in environmental protection. “Make the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis” is Patagonia’s corporate mission. An environmental center will be established in the upcoming Eco Village to promote Patagonia’s environmental philosophy, while also incorporating more local environmental concepts and NGO members to jointly protect and maintain the outdoor ecological environment.
