On the morning of the 10th, a grand bridal procession of nearly a hundred bicycles adorned with colorful balloons made a striking appearance in Qingxian County. At the front of the procession, the groom rode a manually pedaled tricycle tied with red ribbons and decorated with fresh flowers, carrying the bride.
The groom, Dai Guanghai, is 26 years old this year. While planning the wedding, he had been thinking about how to make the event more meaningful and memorable. Since both he and his bride love cycling, they came up with the idea of riding bikes to welcome the bride. In doing so, they hoped not only to let more people witness their love but also to encourage others to learn more about and embrace cycling as an eco-friendly mode of transportation.
With the support of his partner, Dai Guanghai planned this bicycle-themed wedding and sent out invitations to fellow cyclists online in advance, receiving enthusiastic responses from many local bike enthusiasts.
Although the wedding procession was simple, the atmosphere was lively. By 7 a.m. on the wedding day, dozens of cyclists had gathered at Dai Guanghai’s home. Many of the riders were not close acquaintances—or even strangers—to Dai, but they came from all directions to show their support and understanding for the couple’s decision to break from tradition and choose this low-carbon, environmentally friendly way to get married. Cyclist Gao Junzhi said that everyone there shared a love for cycling, environmental protection, and green living, and they fully supported such a green and sustainable wedding.
Without the noise and hustle of motor vehicles, the air was filled instead with the cheerful laughter of the cyclists. The groom, riding the flower-adorned tricycle and surrounded by the cycling group, carried the bride on a tour around the county town. Admiring glances, exclamations of praise, and heartfelt blessings accompanied them along the way.
Duan Baoyin, president of the Qingxian County Bicycle Association, said that this cycling wedding was the first of its kind in the area. Through this novel wedding ceremony, the newlyweds have created a very positive social impact. He sincerely hopes that more couples in the future will choose this low-carbon, romantic way to advocate for environmental protection and cherish their happiness throughout life’s journey.
