In addition to admiring the beauty of cherry blossoms during the day, the illuminated night cherry blossoms are also incredibly enchanting. Lohas Park in Neihu District is a well-known spot for cherry blossom viewing in Taipei, featuring a 3-kilometer cherry blossom pathway. Last year, the Public Works Department installed 32 street lamps along the pathway, making it a popular new destination for nighttime cherry blossom viewing. This year’s Lohas Night Cherry Blossom Season will also kick off on February 3.

Lohas Park is located by Donghu’s Neigou Creek. Starting from Kang Le Street, a 3-kilometer stretch of cherry blossoms has been planted along the creek-side pathway, making Neigou Creek arguably the most beautiful cherry blossom river in Taipei. Lohas Park boasts a wide variety of cherry blossom species. Around the Lunar New Year each year, the first hundred or so Kanhi Zakura (Winter Cherry) trees in the upper area of the park’s first section bloom first, gradually shifting from pale pink to deep pink and crimson—delicately soft and very beautiful.

Later, other varieties such as Somei Yoshino, Shirofugen, and Amagi Yoshino also bloom in succession, adding endless romance to the Donghu Cherry Grove. After enjoying the cherry blossoms at Lohas Park, visitors can also stroll along the brick-paved pathway by the creek to admire various cherry blossom types including Showa Zakura, Somei Yoshino, Formosa Zakura, and Kawazu Zakura, and visit the Neigou Creek Ecology Exhibition Hall to learn about the stories and ecological environment of Neigou Creek.
