The Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area in Yilan is a well-known ecotourism destination, attracting many visitors with its diverse mountain scenery and beauty throughout the four seasons. A recent cold front brought the first snowfalls to many high-altitude areas, and Taipingshan also experienced temperatures as low as minus four degrees Celsius, covering the mountaintops with a vast white blanket. As the sunrise cast its light, the melting snow created a scene as enchanting as a fairyland abroad.

The trees on Taipingshan were all blanketed with heavy rime. From a distance, they appeared as a vast white expanse, and at sunrise, the morning light shimmered brightly, creating a dazzling sight. Looking down from the mountains, the small settlement cabins were surrounded by the expansive white mountain landscape, resembling a snow country and bringing to life movie-like scenery.

The beauty of Taipingshan resembles a fairyland, but the roads often ice over due to the low temperatures. In case of icy conditions, for safety reasons, visitors must wait at the information station until staff have inspected the roads and confirmed they are safe before proceeding uphill. You can also check the mountain conditions on the official website and prepare snow chains and other hiking gear accordingly.
