Recently, Old K has been on a wild hunt for delicious breakfasts and stumbled upon this spot in Antai Street, East Lake. Old K still remembers Antai Street well—just last time, I ate at a tasty Antai Qingdao Dumpling Restaurant here. Truly, the harder-to-find places often hide the best food gems.

This Ah Zhi Breakfast is super close to the Antai Qingdao Dumpling Restaurant I visited last time. It’s more like a home setup, so there are only two tables at the entrance, mainly for takeout. The owner is a mainland bride who’s been in Taiwan for quite a while. Most of her customers are referrals from regulars. Honestly, if it weren’t for a recommendation, Old K probably wouldn’t have ridden all the way here XD

Next to the shop is the Antai Creek Ecological Corridor

Taking a walk with your breakfast feels pretty nice too XD

They offer a wide variety here—both Chinese and Western breakfast items. Egg pancake wrappers, steamed buns, toast, turnip cakes, soy milk, black tea, and more. Almost everything is made in-house, which is really impressive, and the prices are super cheap. There were so many options, I didn’t know what to order, so I asked another customer what they usually got. It seemed like everyone ordered the leek & egg pancake, so Old K went for that too, plus a cup of soy milk.

Here’s Old K’s leek & egg pancake—look at the size of that portion!!

Unsweetened Soy Milk (Large, NT$15), Leek & Egg Pancake (NT$25)
The soy milk was pretty thick, and for NT$15 a cup, it’s seriously a steal.

The leek & egg pancake was packed with fillings—way more than expected. Old K thought it’d just be leeks and eggs, but there were also glass noodles and some tuna. It’s basically an egg pancake version of a leek turnover XD
This one could easily replace two or three from other places. It really tastes like a leek turnover, but with more egg, and the owner’s special chili sauce makes it even more flavorful. Normally, one egg pancake with soy milk is enough for breakfast, but for just NT$40, this is such great value. Though eating outside in summer is pretty hot—still better to take it away XD

While Old K was eating, a customer ordered turnip cake stir-fried with eggs. Old K had to check it out—it looked huge and super appetizing. Asked the owner how many portions that was, and she said it was two. That’s a lot!! Since Old K also got a pork pie, getting another portion would’ve been too much XD The customer loves spicy food, so they added a ton of chili—the red sauce on top is all chili.

Seeing Old K drooling, the owner gave a piece to try XD Their turnip cake is homemade, just simple rice batter and radish with a bit of salt. This stir-fried version is more on the bold, savory side. The outside is crispy and caramelized, while the inside stays soft and tender, paired with the egg on top. This turnip cake is amazing—Old K highly recommends it.
Checked the menu and didn’t see it listed. Asked the owner and found out it’s a hidden menu item, known only to regulars. Now Old K knows for next time XD Adding chili really elevates the flavor. Those who can’t handle spice might still want to add a little—it’s that good.

Pork Pie (NT$25)
The pork pie takes 15 minutes to make, so those in a rush shouldn’t order it XD The soy milk was finished, so Old K got another large Black Tea (NT$15), which was also pretty good—and compared to the usual NT$20–25 at most breakfast shops, this is insanely cheap.

Picking up the pie, a lot of juices dripped out.

The pie itself is huge, and the filling is hearty. It’s pretty tasty.

The owner saw Old K taking photos and handed over their steamed buns for pictures too XD These three flavors—plain white, brown sugar, and multigrain—are all homemade. Interested folks should come try them yourselves.
Old K’s Little Tip: Found another kind-hearted eatery. Seriously, they make sure you won’t leave hungry. Cheap, big portions, and delicious. No wonder people still come even though it’s off the beaten path. Old K’s favorite was the turnip cake stir-fry—homemade turnip cake really makes a difference. There probably aren’t many breakfast spots in Taipei that still make their own turnip cake these days, which is already a huge plus. The leek & egg pancake is also great—the wrapper is handmade, and the fillings are super generous. It’s seriously such great value. This time, Old K didn’t get to try the sandwich (would’ve exploded XD), but their toast is homemade too—soy milk toast. If you want a cheap, big-portion breakfast, you’ve gotta try this place.
