No need to travel to the Dahu area for strawberry picking — head to Taipei’s “Back Garden” to pick berries among cherry blossoms

Can you easily reach a cherry blossom viewing spot by taking the Wenhu MRT Line? Lehuo Park in Neihu District, near Donghu MRT Station, is currently the best time for cherry blossom viewing. The strawberry farms in Baishihu area have also entered harvest season. Take advantage of the weekend and embark on a cherry blossom and strawberry-picking trip to Taipei’s “Back Garden.”

Lehuo Park is located at the intersection of Donghu Road and Kangle Street, adjacent to the Neigou Creek. Originally a bus terminal, it has been transformed into a park and green space. It is just a 5–10 minute walk from Donghu MRT Station. In addition to cherry blossoms, the park also features children's play facilities, making it a popular leisure spot for local residents on weekends.

Walking further along the park toward the upper and middle reaches of Neigou Creek, you’ll find nearly 10 varieties of cherry blossoms including Benishidare, Yaezakura, Showa Zakura, Yoshino, and Matsuyama. Their blooming periods vary, allowing visitors to enjoy the romantic sight of pink petals fluttering from January to April.

Known as Taipei’s “Back Garden,” the Baishihu area not only boasts famous attractions such as the Baishihu Suspension Bridge, the Concentric Circle Ecological Wetland, and the “Couple Trees,” but its strawberry farms have also entered harvest season. Unlike the open-field cultivation method used in Dahu, Miaoli, strawberries in Neihu are mostly grown in greenhouses or under covered trellises. Aside from the fun of picking strawberries, you can also sample various berry-based treats made on-site — enjoy the strawberry-picking experience without traveling far.
