Every year, from late winter to early spring, it’s cherry blossom season！ The cherry blossoms at popular Taiwanese viewing spots such as Wuling and Aowanda are in full bloom, but you don’t have to travel far,as there aremanyplaces in downtown Taipei where you can admire stunning cherry blossoms.Hurry and take some time during the blooming period to admire the flowers in these serene spots！

1. Xinyi District — Songzhi Park
In recent years, the Taiwan cherry blossoms at Songzhi Park have been getting more attention. These blossoms offer a different kind of beauty compared to mountain cherry blossoms, with their lighter color and minimalist charm. Though not numerous, their location in the city center makes them easily accessible—you can even make a special trip to see them when in the area.

2. Ministry of the Interior Criminal Investigation Bureau
Located next to the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei, the front of the Ministry of the Interior Criminal Investigation Bureau is lined with blooming cherry trees. Their soft pink hues attract many visitors who come specifically to see them. You can easily enjoy the pink blossoms just by walking along the sidewalk, making this police bureau one of Taipei’s popular cherry blossom spots.

3. Beitou — Fuxing 3rd Road Cherry Blossom Tunnel
The cherry blossoms on Fuxing 3rd Road bloom from early to mid-February. The cherry blossom tunnel is lovely not only during the day but also takes on a special charm at night.

4. Wenshan — Xiaokeng No. 1 Park
Starting from Wanshou Road in front of National Chengchi University and heading uphill, you’ll arrive at Xiaokeng No. 1 Park. Covering an area of about 3,800 square meters, the park was planted with over 180 mountain cherry trees starting seven years ago following suggestions from local residents. The crimson mountain cherry blossoms intermingle with the deep blue sky to create a beautiful scene, and visitors can leisurely sit on the park benches to enjoy the view.

5. Neihu — Lohas Park
Taipei City’s Neihu District Lohas Park is home to 90 cherry blossom trees, including varieties such as Taiwan cherry, Oshima cherry, Yoshino cherry, Showa cherry, and weeping cherry. When in full bloom, they form a stunning pink “cherry blossom path.”

6. Gongguan  Water Park
The "Kawazu-zakura" cherry blossoms planted in Taipei Water Park have been blooming successively since the Lunar New Year and are now in full bloom. A natural hybrid of the "Oshima cherry" and the "Early Pink cherry," these blossoms have larger petals and a pink hue, making them a favorite among flower-viewing visitors.

7. Yangmingshan Park Cherry Grove
Known as the "Back Garden of Taipei," Yangmingshan Park received a donation of 100 cherry trees from the Fukuoka-Taiwan Friendship Sakura Bond Association of Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, in 2012 (the 101st year of the Republic of China). Strolling along the lakeside path in the park, visitors can admire the brilliant blooms of mountain cherry trees.

8. Yangmingshan  Lane 42 and Lane 93, Pingjing Street
Lane 42, Pingjing Street, a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in Yangmingshan, typically begins to bloom around mid-January each year. Recently, some blossoms have already opened. Along the nearby Hefeng Farm cherry blossom trail, about 50% of the cherry trees are in bloom. For those looking to avoid crowds, the banks of the stream in Lane 93 of Pingjing Street are also surrounded by about 100 cherry trees.
