Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post

The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post is located within the campus of Nanchang No. 2 Middle School at No. 1 Supu Road, Nanchang City. The building is well-preserved, covering an area of 402.25 square meters.

The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post is a symmetrical H-shaped building with two stories, constructed in brick-concrete. It faces south, with exterior walls made of blue bricks laid in flush joints, and a roof structured with traditional wooden herringbone beams covered by small traditional tiles.

The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post was built in 1925 as a teaching building for Xinyuan School. In late July 1927, Ye Ting led the 24th Division of the 11th Army of the National Revolutionary Army from Jiujiang to Nanchang and established the division headquarters here. On the afternoon of July 30, Ye Ting held a meeting with all company-level and higher officers of the division in the second-floor conference room here, conveying the decision to launch the Nanchang Uprising and assigning combat tasks. After the uprising succeeded and the troops were reorganized, Ye Ting became the commander of the 11th Army, and this site then served as the command post of the 11th Army. After the uprising forces marched south to Guangdong, the site continued to function as a school.

On March 4, 1961, the State Council designated it as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit. In 1977, the government handed over two classrooms within the site to the Memorial Hall of the August 1st Nanchang Uprising for display, arrangement, and management. In 1982, the Ministry of Culture approved, via Document No. (82) 569, that the Ye Ting Command Post be recognized as one of the command post sites of the “August 1st” Uprising.

The Former Site of Ye Ting's Command Post holds significant value for commemorating and promoting the August 1st Nanchang Uprising and the life of Comrade Ye Ting.

Ye Ting (1896–1946), styled Xiyi and also known as Xiping, was a native of Huiyang County, Zhou Tianhui Shuilou Village, Qiuchang Town. He was a renowned Chinese military strategist and one of the founders of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

He was born in 1896 in Huiyang County, Guangdong Province.

In 1911, at the age of 15, while studying at Huizhou Prefectural Secondary Vocational School, Ye Ting resolutely cut off his queue (traditional braided hairstyle) and unequivocally joined Sun Yat-sen’s struggle against the feudal rule of the Qing Dynasty.
