Xiong Shihui's Former Residence is situated in Yangming Park in Donghu District, Nanchang City. It is bordered by Huanhu Road (Dunzitang section) to the east, Nanchang Senior Citizens University to the south, the dormitory compound for Nanchang Municipal Party Committee staff to the west, and Yangming Road to the north. This is a two-story (plus a 0th floor) Western-style sloped-roof building covering a construction area of 220 square meters. The entire structure is built with blue bricks, featuring wooden doors and windows as well as wooden flooring. The main body reflects the architectural style of the mid-Republic of China period (1930s). The residence’s main entrance faces west. The first floor contains six rooms, a small kitchen, and a bathroom; the second floor has four rooms and a bathroom; the 0th floor has storage rooms on both the eastern and western sides, and a spiral wooden staircase located in the middle-north part of the house leads to the 0th floor. The corridors on the east ends of the first and second floors were later partitioned into small rooms as needed. The east and west balconies on the second floor had their railings replaced with cement structures around the 1970s.

In 1932, Xiong Shihui, then Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Government, purchased this villa. He kept his second wife, Gu Zhuyun (1906–1929), here and often came to rest after work. As a result, the place frequently hosted key figures from the Nationalist government, and Chiang Kai-shek also held numerous meetings in this villa. After the liberation of China, the residence was nationalized and became an office space for municipal party committee-affiliated institutions. In early 2004, those institutions withdrew. Currently, Xiong Shihui's Former Residence stands vacant and is managed by the Logistics Service Center of Nanchang Municipal Bureau for Retired Cadres.

Xiong Shihui

Given name Xiguang, courtesy name Tianyi, also known as Master Xuesong, (1893.5–1974.1), was from Yazuilong Village, Wanbu Town, Anyi County. He graduated from the Imperial Japanese Army Academy (selected by Sun Yat-sen to study in Japan in 1920 and graduated in 1924). He joined the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance in the late Qing Dynasty. He once served as Commander of the Shanghai Garrison, Chief of Staff of the Nanchang Headquarters, Director of the General Office of the Nanchang Headquarters, Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Government, Member of the Supreme National Defense Council, Head of the Chinese Military Delegation to the United States, Secretary-General of the Central Design Bureau, Director of the Northeast Executive Headquarters, military advisor, and a member of the 5th and 6th Central Committees of the Kuomintang...
