Guanziling Hot Springs is located in Baihe District, Tainan City, about 40 kilometers from downtown Tainan. The area around the hot springs has now been developed into the Guanziling Hot Springs Scenic Area. It is one of Taiwan’s most famous hot spring destinations, especially renowned for its rare mud springs, which are loved by visitors of all kinds—hence the constant stream of tourists.

The hot spring water at Guanziling is alkaline carbonated water, with a temperature of around 75 degrees Celsius. Its most distinctive feature is the black, turbid, mud-like water, which is rich in minerals. It is said that soaking in these springs leaves the whole body feeling relaxed and refreshed, with skin appearing rosy and smooth. The springs are quite effective in treating skin allergies, relieving fatigue, beautifying the skin, and addressing chronic gastrointestinal diseases as well as rheumatoid arthritis. The hot springs were developed quite early and, during the Japanese colonial period, were ranked among Taiwan’s four major hot springs alongside Sihchongxi Hot Springs, Beitou Hot Springs, and Yangmingshan Hot Springs.

Surrounded by peaks such as Pillow Mountain and Tiger Head Mountain, the Guanziling Hot Springs area offers numerous leisure and sightseeing spots along routes starting from the hot spring zone, including Volcano Biyun Temple, Baihe Daxian Temple, Red Leaf Park, and the Water-Fire Spring. Visitors can enjoy a fulfilling experience by exploring these scenic sites after soaking in the hot springs.
