The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau is hosting the 24-day "2012 Tainan Gastronomy Feast" from now until August 12 at Hall A11 of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, featuring 36 outstanding Tainan-based vendors showcasing authentic local snacks. This year, the Tainan City Government has specially arranged weekend activities titled "Get Up Close with Tainan," which include Taiwanese gourmet writer Huang Wanling sharing traditional Tainan delicacies with the public, as well as performances by the Ten Drums Art Percussion Group where professional drummers guide drum enthusiasts in creating auspicious rhythms. Additionally, the "Tainan Gastronomy Feast" venue will offer vivid audiovisual introductions to Tainan’s scenic beauty, taking visitors on a journey through the city’s historical corridors and picturesque landscapes.

Additionally, the "2012 Tainan Gastronomy Feast" has a special pineapple cake zone, featuring award-winning vendors from the Tainan City Government’s "2012 Taiwan Pineapple Cake Competition," including traditional category gold award winner Guan Jian Foodie, silver award winner Miao Xian Wang Bakery, creative category gold award winner Duling Phoenix Baked Goods, and quality award winner Zhen Yi Turmeric. The site also showcases eco-friendly art made from recycled materials by the Tainan City Government Environmental Protection Bureau, featuring lifelike scenes of flora and fauna such as black-faced spoonbills, great egrets, Chinese egrets, pied avocets, oriental reed warblers, waterfowl, and Kandelia candel, recreating Tainan’s unique ecological environment as if the Sicao and Qigu nature reserves had been transported to Taipei.

During the exhibition period, visitors who spend a minimum of NT$250 in a single transaction at the 2012 Tainan Gastronomy Feast can win attractive prizes such as a "2012 Tainan Gastronomy Feast Garden Coupon (NT$100, weekend-only)," "Free Tastings of Classic Tainan Delicacies," and "Tainan Souvenir Items." Additionally, visitors who take a photo of their favorite Tainan dish at the venue and upload it to their Facebook to share with friends can participate in the "Spin to Win, Prizes for Blessings" event.
