Taiwan’s HowToTrip Monster Bus Sets Out on a Frightening Ride to Xitou on August 17

This summer, HowToTrip’s Xitou Route will collaborate with the popular Xitou attraction, Monster Village, to coincide with the village’s Monster Carnival. A special Monster-Themed Bus will be available on the Xitou Lineunit. On the day of the event, anyone dressed as various scary monsters can ride the HowToTrip Xitou Line bus for free, traveling round-trip between Taichung and Xitou, and join the Ghost Month Monster Parade. Participants will receive limited-edition souvenirs and a meal that evening. The event is free and open for registration starting now.

Registration for the Monster Bus activity is open from now until August 10. Selected participants will take the special bus from Taichung to Xitou at 1:30 PM on August 17, with the event kicking off at 3:30 PM the same day. The event will begin with a Monster Costume Show, where all costumed participants will compete in a PK contest, with winners receiving prizes such as hotel stay vouchers. This will be followed by the Monster Parade, where the Tengu will be invited to open the gates of the monster realm, releasing a horde of monsters to join in the fun. All monsters will gather together at this time, making it the most lively and mischievous celebration of Ghost Month. In the evening, there will be a Jazz Monster Music Concert, a specially created musical performance by the “Elegant Latin Jazz Band” tailored for Monster Village, allowing visitors to experience a unique Ghost Month event on a midsummer night.

Xitou is a well-known summer retreat in Taiwan, attracting large numbers of visitors every summer to escape the heat and enjoy forest bathing. The Monster Village along HowToTrip’s Xitou Line has become especially popular among young people across Taiwan in recent years. With its strongly Japanese-style shopping street architecture and adorable, entertaining monster villagers, it has become the most eye-catching group of “stars” in the Xitou area.
