Tainan’s Tourism Bureau has released an exceptionally exquisite hand-drawn map series this year, and visitors have been eagerly collecting them. The eighth edition, themed “Harvest Autumn,” introduces travelers to more local attractions and the diverse facets of Tainan.

In the “Harvest Autumn” map, Madou, Xigang, and Anding, located at Tainan’s center, are known as hubs of the city’s religious carnival. The triennial Tainan Incense Festival is a unique religious celebration and one of the most historically significant folk faith events in Taiwan. Meanwhile, Xinzhuang District, once a typical agricultural town, has seen major corporations invest and set up factories here. The “Tainan Science Park,” established in 1995, along with surrounding districts, has created a cityscape that blends technology and culture. Madou’s pomelos and Guantian’s water caltrops are famous across Taiwan. Visitors can not only enjoy their authentic flavors at the source but also experience life as a farmer for a day. Shanhua Brewery, a key production site for the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation in southern Taiwan, has even been transformed into a cultural park, becoming the first beer-themed tourist brewery in Taiwan.

The eighth edition, “Harvest Autumn,” is illustrated in Yating’s rustic and whimsical style. Through her French character Fifi, she takes readers on a journey to discover Tainan and its farm-fresh flavors. Ni Hao, I’m Fifi—original illustrator Yating is a Tainan girl who studied in France. She founded the Ni Hao, I’m Fifi brand out of her dreams, with Fifi as the soul character traveling the world to explore the beauty of life on the road. This time, Fifi becomes a little tour guide, taking her pet grey rabbit and white rabbit, along with her good friend Bear, on a trip back to her hometown to introduce its beauty to everyone.
The illustrator’s hand-drawn map foldouts “Fresh Fruit Splash” and “Harvest Autumn” are available for free starting October 28 (Friday). The public is welcome to visit any Tainan City Tourist Service Center, Yonghua and Minzhi Municipal Joint Service Centers, or district offices to collect them. Quantities are limited, and they can also be downloaded from the “Tainan Tourism Network” (http://www.twtainan.net/).
