Tainan Metropolitan Park

Tainan Metropolitan Park is located in Rende District, Tainan City, Taiwan. Its development was initiated through a cooperative development agreement signed in 2003 between Tainan County Government and the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. The Taiwan Sugar Corporation provided 100 hectares as the cooperative development area, while the Tainan County Government consolidated and received a donated feedback of 40 hectares of land. The total area of the park is 66 hectares, making it the third largest urban park in Taiwan; the first phase covers 40 hectares, and the remaining 26 hectares constitute the second phase, with the first phase opening on January 3, 2009.

Tainan Metropolitan Park is located along Provincial Highway 1, which connects Rende to Kaohsiung. It is a multifunctional park offering leisure, ecological experiences, and artistic and cultural performances. At first glance, you’ll see a vast grassland dotted with trees and well-designed landscaping. The expansive entrance of Tainan Water Metropolitan Park features bridge and city wall-style architecture that makes visitors feel as if they’re entering a castle. The outdoor area includes pedestrian scenic walkways, a dedicated cycling path around the park, an outdoor performance stage, a wellness and fitness zone, a detention landscape pond, a lakeside wooden boardwalk, and a children’s play area. Additionally, there is a management center, three indoor exhibition halls, and educational classrooms. Thoughtful design details can be found throughout the park—for example, the restroom building is shaped like a mushroom, adding a playful atmosphere. In the distance, you can also see the towering chimneys of the Ten Drums Culture Village, and many spots offer great photo opportunities, making it an ideal destination for family outings and leisure activities.
