Pankou Stone Archway

The term "Pankou" originally referred to an academy of learning, specifically the county school in this context. During the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, Magistrate Jiang Yuanshu renovated the Confucius Temple. To enhance its grandeur, he added this stone archway outside the main entrance known as Dong Dacheng Archway, located east of the temple, to honor the learning institutions of the prefecture and county.

The Pankou Stone Archway features a three-bay façade supported by four pillars and double eaves, designed in imitation of wooden architecture. It showcases ornamental ridge beasts, bracket sets, flying eaves, and exquisitely carved patterns on the surface of the archway—displaying a majestic presence within its unadorned simplicity.
