Cuiyun Mountain Forest Park is located in Chongli County, Hebei Province, 50 kilometers from Zhangjiakou City and 247 kilometers from the capital, Beijing. The area is covered with dense, lush forests that look like a green cloud from afar—hence the name "Cuiyun" (Green Cloud) Mountain.

Cuiyun Mountain Forest Park covers a total managed area of 70,000 mu and is divided into three scenic areas: Cuiyun Mountain, Great Wall Ridge, and Honghua Ridge, featuring over 100 scenic spots. The main peak, Great Wall Ridge, stands at an elevation of 2,130.4 meters, where ancient sections of the Great Wall built during the Ming Dynasty's Chenghua and Wanli eras wind along the ridge. The forest coverage rate of Cuiyun Mountain reaches as high as 85.7%, with 553 species of wild higher plants belonging to 301 genera and 80 families. It boasts 42,000 mu of natural secondary forest and 18,000 mu of planted forest. From the mountain base to the summit, there are successively shrub belts, deciduous broad-leaved forest belts, mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest belts, coniferous forest belts, and subalpine meadows—showcasing a microcosm of the main vegetation types from temperate to cold temperate zones. Here, you’ll find verdant pine forests, slender white birches, melodious birdsongs, and enchanting scenery. Nestled within the valleys and forests, you can quietly immerse yourself in nature’s charm—bathing in the breeze, sipping tea, listening to birds, and admiring the views. It’s a deeply moving and joyful experience. Reflect on the distant past, recall the clamor of battle, and feel the peace and tranquility.

Cuiyun Mountain has exceptional skiing resources. The area receives an annual snowfall of 63.5 centimeters, accumulating to about 1 meter of snow, with snow quality parameters meeting skiing standards. The snow lasts for up to 150 days, earning recognition from national sports authorities and industry experts such as the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Ski Association as “the most ideal skiing destination in North China.” The park’s three major ski resorts—Wanlong, Great Wall Ridge, and Cuiyun Mountain—have successfully hosted five editions of the “China·Chongli International Ski Festival.”

Cuiyun Mountain is a painting of ever-changing seasons: spring brings blooming mountain flowers and the buzzing of bees and butterflies; summer paints the mountains in layers of emerald green; autumn offers clear skies and forests painted in vibrant hues; and winter cloaks the land in glistening white. The park has developed a four-season tourism brand centered around winter skiing, highlighted by “spring flower viewing, summer retreats, autumn sightseeing, and winter skiing.”
