SINA Sports News, November 12 — The brand launch event of "Taiwu Is Here," the Taiwu Ski Resort, grandly kicked off in Beijing. Present at the event were Wang Zhili, Deputy Director of the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and Vice President of the Chinese Ski Association, Li Hong, Vice Mayor of Zhangjiakou City, Bai Yinhai, County Chief of Chongli, Qi Hong, Chairman of Taiwu Tourism Resort Co., Ltd, the two founders of the YES Running Group, renowned singer Sha Baoliang, and former badminton world champion Ye Zhaoying, among other notable figures.
The Taiwu Ski Resort is located in the "world’s golden ski belt" — at 41°N latitude, boasting an ultra-long skiing season of 150 days. The project covers a total land area of 40 square kilometers, with a construction area of approximately 2 million square meters and a total investment exceeding 20 billion yuan, making it currently the largest comprehensive ski resort in China. Designed and planned by top international professional teams, the ski slopes were master-planned by the world-renowned Canadian design firm Ecosign Mountain Planning & Design. Ecosign, having served as the "planner" for five Winter Olympic venues, leverages its extensive experience in mountain planning, especially ski resort design, and combines it with the natural terrain features of Chongli to establish a high-standard international ski resort plan, ensuring the long-term sustainable development of the Taiwu Ski Resort.
The globally leading ski development and management brand CDA has chosen Taiwu Ski Resort as the site of its first strategic cooperation project in China. In addition, the resort is designed to offer "full camp ski-in/ski-out" convenience — with ski runs and lifts located near multiple resort hotels, allowing skiers to easily ski directly from their hotels onto the slopes or ski straight back into their hotels after getting off the lift. This truly enables the experience of "skiing right out your door," delivering the exhilarating feeling of accessing the slopes directly from your hotel room.
Taiwu Ski Resort enjoys the title of "Crown of Chongli." It features the highest peak in Chongli at 2,160 meters, a finish elevation of 1,650 meters, a vertical drop of 510 meters, a slope length of 2,032 meters, an average gradient of 25.50%, a maximum gradient of 51.20%, and a minimum gradient of 4.71%. It is equipped with a high-speed eight-person gondola lift from French company POMA and an automated snowmaking system from American company SMI. The main ski runs fully meet the technical requirements set by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for alpine skiing competitions, including women's downhill, men's and women's super-G, men's and women's giant slalom, men's and women's slalom, and the combined event. Based on these advantages, the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China has in principle agreed to approve Taiwu Ski Resort as a "National Team Alpine Ski Training Base" and has submitted it to the FIS for technical certification. Once certified, the Taiwu Ski Resort will be fully qualified to host major international events under the FIS, such as the Alpine Skiing World Cup and World Championships.
It is particularly worth mentioning that Taiwu Ski Resort has built the largest beginner ski run area in China to date, capable of supporting both professional competitive events and meeting the needs of novice skiers. Additionally, the planned ski terrain park, covering nearly 70,000 m², features slopes of varying difficulty levels, moguls, wave zones, and corresponding features to cater to both snowboarders and skiers. At the ski school, 30% of the instructors come from top skiing nations in Europe and America and all hold internationally certified ski instructor qualifications. The school not only provides internationally standardized ski instruction but also organizes winter and summer camps with various themed activities for children and teenagers during different seasons.
The resort also offers a wide variety of exciting, thrilling, and fun winter recreational activities. Alongside activities such as snowmobiling, extreme skiing, and cross-country skiing, there is also a dedicated large-scale tubing and children’s snow play area equipped with a special magic carpet, providing kids with more space to play. Furthermore, various unique cultural events such as music festivals, film festivals, art festivals, open-air performances, and food festivals will be held periodically to fully showcase the boundless energy of "mountain life."
