Chongli Qingshuihe Source National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Chongli Qingshuihe Source National Wetland Park is located in Chongli District, Zhangjiakou City. The wetland park has established five functional zones: management and service area, wetland conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, education and exhibition area, and rational utilization area.

The Qingshuihe Source National Wetland Park covers a total construction area of 354.6 hectares. The park area boasts a diverse range of biological populations and abundant natural resources, serving special ecological functions. It is home to 135 species of plants from both aquatic and terrestrial categories, as well as 87 species of wild vertebrates. It serves as a valuable natural gene pool of species, holding high value for conservation, scientific research, public education, and tourism.

Adhering to the overall planning principles of prioritizing protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization, and sustainable development, the wetland park has set up five functional zones: management and service area, wetland conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, education and exhibition area, and rational utilization area, implementing zoned management. Once completed, it will feature a healthy and complete ecosystem, rich and diverse flora and fauna, a beautiful and pleasant natural environment, well-equipped facilities for science education and outreach, superior conditions for leisure and recreation, and a profound cultural heritage. Qingshuihe Source National Wetland Park will become a model for riverine wetland conservation and eco-friendly utilization both in China and abroad, as well as an exemplary demonstration of the service value provided by riverine wetland systems.

The Qingshuihe River originates in Chongli County, flows through the Yanghe River into the Guanting Reservoir, and eventually joins the Yongding River. It is an extremely important water source and ecological conservation area for Beijing. The construction of the Qingshuihe Source Wetland Park will further purify the water quality of the Qingshuihe River and comprehensively improve the ecological conservation conditions of Beijing’s water source areas. This holds significant practical and historical importance for safeguarding the safe water supply of residents in the capital, improving Beijing’s ecological environment, and especially for maintaining the sustainable development of the capital and ecological balance across various river basins. The construction of the wetland park will also effectively support Beijing and Zhangjiakou’s bid for the 24th Winter Olympics, contributing to the goal of building an ecological Beijing and realizing a “Green Olympics.”
