Genting Secret Garden Ski Resort is located in Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, nestled within the Damaqun Mountain Range where the Taihang and Yanshan Mountains meet. It was developed through investments by Malaysia’s Genting Group and China’s Excellence Group (hence the name “Genting Resort”). With an average annual temperature of just 3.3°C and snow cover lasting up to 150 days, the resort’s exceptional geographical advantages provide ideal conditions for winter sports. The development plan includes 87 ski runs with a total length of approximately 70 kilometers and a total ski area of 262 hectares, capable of accommodating 19,610 skiers. Once completed, the “Genting Ski Center” will become China’s largest destination for snow viewing, snow play, and snow entertainment, offering the perfect setting to ski, admire ice formations, and enjoy leisure activities amidst a winter wonderland.

The “Genting Ski Center” is situated in Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, within the Damaqun Mountain Range where the Taihang and Yanshan Mountains meet. It was developed through investments by Malaysia’s Genting Group and China’s Excellence Group (the source of the resort’s name). With an average annual temperature of just 3.3°C and snow cover lasting up to 150 days, the resort’s exceptional geographical advantages provide ideal conditions for winter sports. The development plan includes 87 ski runs with a total length of approximately 70 kilometers and a total ski area of 262 hectares, capable of accommodating 19,610 skiers. Supporting infrastructure includes 22 chairlifts with a combined length of about 30 kilometers, featuring a rated uphill capacity of 32,520 people per hour and a comfortable capacity of 18,270 people per hour. Once completed, the “Genting Ski Center” will become China’s largest destination for snow viewing, snow play, and snow entertainment, offering the perfect setting to ski, admire ice formations, and enjoy leisure activities amidst a winter wonderland.

Designed by the American firm Ecosign, the Genting Ski Center offers three detachable chairlifts, two magic carpets, and one T-bar lift. Among these, the three high-speed chairlifts are supplied by Austria’s Doppelmayr. Lift No. 1 is a hybrid cabin and chairlift, spanning 1,815.19 meters with a vertical drop of 394.7 meters. It operates at speeds of 0–5 m/s and has an hourly capacity of 2,400 passengers. Lift No. 5 is a four-person heated, windproof chairlift, 562.38 meters long with a vertical drop of 70.2 meters. It runs at 0–5 m/s and accommodates 2,025 passengers per hour. Lift No. 6 is also a four-person heated, windproof chairlift, stretching 1,156 meters with a vertical drop of 281.7 meters. It operates at 0–5 m/s and can carry 2,220 passengers per hour. There are also two magic carpets: one is 242.8 meters long, operating at 0.6–1.2 m/s with a capacity of 1,500 passengers per hour, while the other is 150 meters long, running at 0.6–1.2 m/s and carrying 1,420 passengers per hour. The availability of both enclosed and semi-enclosed lifts not only allows you to enjoy the scenery and watch skiers in warmth and comfort but also doubles the efficiency compared to fixed-grip lifts, which typically move at 1.7 m/s. Of course, magic carpets are the ideal conveyance for beginner skiers, both domestically and internationally.

The Genting Ski Center offers 35 ski runs for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers, covering a ski area of over 800,000 square meters. It is equipped with two four-person high-speed chairlifts, one hybrid cabin-chair high-speed lift, and one beginner magic carpet. The resort features multiple snowmaking machines from Italy’s TechnoAlpin and snow groomers from Prinoth, ensuring optimal snow conditions. To cater to snowboarders, there is also a dedicated snowboard recreation area, meeting the diverse needs of skiers and riders at all levels.

Genting International Tourism Resort is currently the largest investment-scale, most extensively planned, most innovatively designed, and most service-oriented resort demonstration zone in North China. This project was established as a key development initiative in the Chinese market by Excellence Group in 2008, receiving high attention from the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the provincial government, and was designated as a “Key Project of Hebei Province during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan.” Located approximately 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing in Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City, the resort spans a planned total area of 99.57 square kilometers. The winter skiing section includes plans for 87 ski runs totaling around 70 kilometers in length, supported by 22 chairlifts spanning approximately 30 kilometers. The resort enjoys an average annual temperature of 19°C, air negative ion levels more than 4,000 times that of Beijing, and the lowest PM2.5 values in North China. Leveraging its unique natural landscape and prime geographical location, Genting provides comprehensive tourism products and services for domestic and international visitors. It aims to become a world-class, year-round, and distinctive international tourism destination, characterized as: a hub for winter sports events and tourism; a center for outdoor sports events and tourism; a summer retreat and wellness destination; and a preferred venue for corporate conferences and annual meetings. In July 2014, Beijing officially became a candidate city to host the 2022 Winter Olympics. Now that the bid has succeeded, the Chinese Olympic Committee has assigned ice events to Beijing and snow events to Chongli County, Zhangjiakou. For Genting, located at the heart of Chongli’s tourism zone, the Olympics will serve as a significant boost to its development.

Genting Resort is home to over 100 top-tier domestic and international instructors who are experts in skiing instruction and techniques for both alpine and snowboarding, all holding national and international coaching certifications.
