The Ancient City of Yagqi Wuyiluke

The Ancient City of Yagqi Wuyiluke is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: Located in the sand dunes about 140 kilometers north of Pishan County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is a Han Dynasty site, consisting of five parts with a total area of approximately 80 square kilometers, where a particularly large number of cultural relics have been unearthed.

The first part is called Bashibazar, covering an area of five square kilometers. It contains a cross-shaped street and remnants of walls. There are also ancient tomb sites, where mummies have been excavated, and the ground is covered with pottery fragments. The second part is Bulak Lake, located 10 kilometers from Bashibazar. It features a dried-up lake about seven square kilometers in size, surrounded by ruins of ancient houses and traces of canals and farmland. Pottery fragments can be found on the ground, along with ancient coins, walnut and date pits, as well as remnants of wheat and corn stalks. There are ancient tombs where broken mummies can be seen. The third part is the temple area, spanning ten square kilometers, where Buddhist temple ruins are found near burial grounds and also includes artifacts such as watermill stones. The fourth part is Saipilike, the central area of the site, covering 25 square kilometers. Faint remnants of city walls suggest that streets inside the city once crisscrossed and houses stood close together. Unearthed relics include bronze coins, seals, wooden tubes, and more. In the burial area, multiple coffins have been exposed, along with mummies.

The Ancient City of Yagqi Wuyiluke site was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1957.
