Fengshan County has a long history of oil tea cultivation. Especially after being listed as an oil tea base county by the autonomous region in 1973, the county vigorously promoted oil tea production and continuously expanded the scale of oil tea base development. By the end of 2011, the county had planted oil tea on a total of 220,000 mu, including 42,000 mu of young forests, 35,000 mu starting to bear fruit, 115,000 mu in full production, and 28,000 mu in declining production. Oil tea plantations are mainly distributed across 66 villages in 9 townships. Key production areas include Qiaoyin, Changzhou, Pingle, Fengcheng, Zhongting, Jiangzhou, and Jinya, which account for 87% of the county's total oil tea forest area. The main varieties are ordinary local oil tea and Cenxi soft-branch oil tea.
In recent years, with strong support from higher-level Party committees, governments, and relevant departments, Fengshan County has actively guided the public in carrying out low-yield oil tea transformation and scientific management. This has sparked a new wave of oil tea planting enthusiasm throughout the county. Thanks to the low-yield transformation efforts, oil tea seed production has been increasing year by year. In 2011, the county produced 4,449 tons of tea oil seeds, generating an output value of 44.49 million yuan.
