No need to fly — enjoy air-freighted Okayama white peaches from Japan now on sale in Taiwan

Okayama Prefecture in Japan is famous for its juicy, tender white peaches. Now you can enjoy them in Taiwan without flying all the way to Japan. Air-freighted fresh Okayama white peaches are now available at the underground market of a major supermarket in Taipei, along with cute Momotaro-themed gifts. Travelers interested in Japanese fruits should definitely check it out.

Known as the “Kingdom of Sunny Weather” in Japan, Okayama Prefecture sees its peak white peach season from late June to August each year. From now until August 17th, freshly air-freighted Okayama white peaches will be on special sale for three days at the basement level 2 supermarket of Pacific Sogo Department Store’s Zhongxiao Branch in Taipei’s East District. Peach tastings will be available on-site, and visitors will also receive cute Momotaro souvenirs.

Aside from savoring the fragrant and sweet premium white peaches, you can also experience the summer evening illuminations at two of Okayama Prefecture’s top attractions: Korakuen Garden—one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens—and Okayama Castle, also known as the “Crow Castle.” The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, a designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, is another must-visit, famous for its picturesque willow-lined Kurashiki River and traditional white-walled buildings that make for perfect photo spots. Additionally, don’t miss the unique “Narukama Shinto Ritual” at Kibitsu Shrine, the legendary birthplace of the Momotaro folktale.
