Japan’s Okayama Launches “Travel Photography Contest” – Winners Get a Free Trip to Okayama

Known as the “Kingdom of Sunny Weather,” Japan’s Okayama Prefecture has attracted more travelers since Taiwan’s Tigerair launched direct flights to Okayama Airport in 2016. To help more travel and photography enthusiasts discover the beauty of Okayama, the 3rd “Home of Momotaro: Okayama Travel & Photography Contest” is now open for entries. Submit your best photos of Okayama starting today, and winners will get to visit Okayama for free!

In addition to famous attractions such as Korakuen Garden and the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Okayama also boasts must-visit spots like the “Kibitsu Shrine,” the origin of the Momotaro legend; the relaxing Yuushin Onsen hot spring village; and Tsuyama Castle & Tsuruyama Park, selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. Traveling from Okayama to Osaka by Shinkansen takes just about 40 minutes, and around 35 minutes to Hiroshima. The convenient transportation spares travelers from tiring long journeys, and the region’s unique geography not only offers abundant natural beauty but also leads Japan in fruit production and sweetness—earning it the nickname “Fruit Kingdom.”

To help more people discover the beauty of Okayama, the 3rd Okayama Prefecture Photography Contest is now open for entries. The first phase of photo submissions runs until July 2, after which 8 winners will be selected to travel to Okayama on a complimentary photography trip with Tigerair Taiwan. In the second phase, participants will be asked to submit their travel photos of Okayama upon returning home, with the top 3 winning additional prize money.
