Laojun Mountain Forest Park

Laojun Mountain is located five li south of Wushan County and is the main peak of the Taihuang Mountain Range in the Western Qinling Mountains as it extends to the southern part of Wushan County. With an elevation of 2,385.9 meters, Laojun Mountain has long been celebrated for its majestic peaks, beautiful ridges, cascading waves, and towering ancient pines. Since ancient times, it has enjoyed the reputation of “the peerless beauty of Laojun Mountain, overlooking the Wei River,” serving as a protective barrier for Wushan County to the south and one of the eight scenic spots of ancient Ningyuan.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, while preserving the original scenic forests, pine trees were planted to ensure lush greenery all year round, making the mountain’s scenery exceptionally beautiful. In recent years, it has been designated as a county-level forest park.

Since the reform and opening-up, with the vigorous development of the tourism industry in our county, the naturally formed landscapes and picturesque scenery created by nature have attracted a continuous stream of domestic and international visitors.

Laojun Mountain features beautiful landscapes with legendary tales, including: Taiqing Shengjing (Supreme Purity Paradise), Shixia Feipu (Stone Gorge Waterfall), Qipan Xianji (Immortal Traces on the Chessboard), Jiguan Diecui (Layered Greenery of the Cockscomb), Chaoyang Gudong (Ancient Cave of the Rising Sun), Guodi Yan Yun (Smoke and Clouds over the Pot Bottom), Yougu Shenquan (Divine Spring in the Secluded Valley), and Liaotai Kanwei (Overlooking the Wei River from the Watchtower). It also includes more than twenty scenic spots such as: Cliffside White Pines, Laojun Ancient Temple, Feiyun Peak (Flying Cloud Peak), and Pantian Ti (Heaven-Climbing Ladder).
