Guanxixia Site

The Guanxixia Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Gansu Province.

The Guanxixia Site is located 300 meters northwest of Guanxixia Village, Guohuai Township, Wushan County. It is a site where both Yangshao Culture and Qijia Culture coexist. Covering an area of approximately 125,000 square meters, the cultural layer is 0.5–1 meter thick, with exposed ash pits, hearths, tombs, and white lime living surfaces. Collected artifacts include painted pottery fragments from the Miaodigou type of Yangshao Culture featuring hook-leaf patterns and arc-triangle motifs, as well as red pottery fragments with fine cord and sand-tempered patterns. Pottery forms include double-lipped pointed-bottom bottles, flared-rim curved-belly basins, and round-bottomed bowls. In addition, there are geometric-patterned painted pottery fragments from the Qijia Culture, along with red and gray pottery fragments in sand-tempered, cord, basket, and incised styles, as well as stone axes, stone knives, and grinding tools. The site is well-preserved and holds significant value for studying the relationship between Yangshao and Qijia Cultures in eastern Gansu.
