The Fumenjia Site

The Fumenjia Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Gansu Province.

The Fumenjia Site is located 100 meters south of Fumenjia Village, Malishi Town, Wushan County. It is a large site where multiple cultures coexist. Covering an area of approximately 750,000 square meters, the cultural layer is 0.2 to 2 meters thick, with exposed white lime living surfaces, ash pits, and tombs. Collected artifacts include painted pottery shards from the Miaodigou type of the Yangshao Culture featuring net patterns, curved line patterns, and dot patterns, as well as fragments of brown-patterned red pottery vessels such as bottles, jars, basins, and bowls; and fragments of red pottery (both fine clay and sandy clay) from the Qijia Culture adorned with rope patterns, basket patterns, appliqué patterns, and stab puncture patterns. Artifacts include folded-belly jars, single-handled jars, double-handled li tripods, as well as stone knives, stone spades, pottery spinning whorls, and stone axes. In addition, there are also gray pottery jars made of sandy clay from the Xindian Culture. The site is well preserved and holds significant value for studying the developmental sequence of Neolithic cultures in the eastern part of Gansu Province.

Malishi Town: Malishi Town is located in the southwestern part of Wushan County, 35 kilometers from the county seat, bordering Zhang County, and covers an area of 204.67 square kilometers. It serves as an important distribution hub for agricultural products and a center for economic and cultural exchange within the county.

The town currently administers 34 village committees, with a population of 40,600. The arable land area is 66,900 mu, including 8,320 mu of flatland. Transportation in the town is convenient, with the Wuzhang and Tanma highways running through the area, and rural roads connecting every village. Education, science, health care, and communication services are well developed.
