The Guizhou Jiuxian Mountain Scenic Area is located in Guanling, Guizhou, only 15 kilometers from the Huangguoshu Waterfall. The karst cave attraction, Jiuxian Cave Heaven, features typical subterranean karst erosion landforms. Around 700 million years ago during the Sinian Period, this area was in a stable continental coastal environment. From the Cambrian Period 500 million years ago to the Triassic Period 200 million years ago, it underwent four repeated cycles of marine transgression and regression. During the Jurassic Period 190 million years ago, the region experienced crustal uplift, becoming part of a continental fold belt, which established its geological structure. Since then, these carbonate-dominated formations have been shaped over millennia by the long-term dissolution of surface and groundwater, forming numerous spectacular karst features, rift valleys, and sinkholes. Inside the cave, stalactites, stalagmites, and stone forests feature unique shapes. Jiuxian Cave Heaven is a relatively young cave. About 25 million years ago, due to intense tectonic uplift and strong river downcutting, the original underground river lost water over time, triggering neotectonic movements that formed caves, stalactites, shale formations, rift valleys, and underground rivers.
