The “2019 Tainan Guanziling Hot Spring Food Festival – Mud Goodie!” series of events has kicked off one after another. The holiday market starting at 2 PM during the National Day long weekend features not only local agricultural product sales and DIY craft workshops (quilling, dreamcatchers, scratch art creation), but also drone VR experiences for a fee. The event site has prepared hundreds of colorful yukata for free public trials.

In addition, visitors can also pay to experience the highly popular Japanese yukata rental shop from last year, “Kyoto Kimono Rental Sakura,” which offers high-quality traditional Japanese yukata rental and hair styling services. This year, they’ve also added a limited daily quota of five people for a silent kimono experience (requires online reservation).

The National Day long weekend brings a variety of events across Tainan. In addition to the holiday market, the Guanziling Hot Spring Food Festival will host an exciting musical performance at 7 PM on October 12, featuring healing indie singer Wei Jiaying and the classical string ensemble “GuZheng Fun Band.” There’s also a specially arranged picnic setup competition (registration is now full).

The yukata picnic event also offers special free experiences, including a hand-brewed coffee workshop by Dachu Huajian, the champion coffee makers from Dongshan, and a cake and cookie DIY session led by Yan Ding Nature Leisure Farm, famous for their barrel chicken dishes. Both activities are limited to 50 participants each. Registration requires queuing up at the service desk to get a number starting at 6:30 PM on October 12, the day of the event, on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, glow sticks, flashlights, and other light-emitting items will be provided so everyone can create light-painted art. The tourism bureau has also arranged professional photographers to take free commemorative photos for visitors.
