Lion Mountain Park was constructed by the Meiyuan Economic Development Zone. Located in the eastern suburbs of the county town, it borders the Zishui River to the east and the Xinleng Highway to the west, covering a planned area of 64 hectares. The terrain features landforms that strikingly resemble a lion and a winding, serpentine mountain ridge. The park boasts lush mountains, clear waters, a beautiful environment, and pleasant scenery. Dozens of attractions and pavilions, including the Flying Squirrel ride, the Aerial Cable Car, and the Lion Pavilion’s Wind Tunnel Adventure, are scattered across the hills and cliffs, allowing visitors enchanted by the natural landscape to also enjoy recreational fun. Moreover, beautiful legends such as “The Lion Guarding White Dragon Bay” and “The Maiden Gazing at Her Husband” leave unforgettable memories.

Legend has it that long, long ago, there were no mountains here—only a deep pool within the Zishui River system. One day, a white dragon emerged from the pool to play in the water. Its splashing created towering waves and caused the water level to rise sharply, flooding downstream villages and bringing great disaster to innocent residents. The incident alarmed the heavens, and the Jade Emperor sent immortals to subdue the white dragon. They transformed it into the serpentine mountain ridge and placed it in the river to block the direct flow of the Zishui, diverting its course and ending the downstream floods. Before leaving, the immortal left the accompanying lion behind to forever guard the white dragon. From then on, there were mountains and water here. The arrival of the immortal also brought spiritual energy to the area. Later, more beautiful legends emerged, such as “Heavenly Emperor Mountain” downstream and “The Maiden Gazing at Her Husband” atop Lion Mountain. The park derives its name from the shape of its mountain.

The amusement park is divided into five functional zones: children’s activity area, youth activity area, senior activity area, quiet rest area, and memorial area for notable figures. Since its establishment, the park has followed the principles of overall planning, phased implementation, and dynamic development. Internally focusing on management and externally building its image, it has continuously improved the investment environment and service quality. With over 4 million yuan invested in construction, the park has developed more than 30 entertainment projects, including go-karts, hydraulic airplanes, and the Flying Squirrel ride. It has welcomed 160,000 visitors, generating an annual revenue of 1.7 million yuan. It has been recognized as a “County-Level Advanced Unit for Health and Civilization,” “Advanced Unit for Spiritual Civilization Construction,” and one of the “Top Ten Advanced Units for Health and Civilization in Loudi Region,” achieving remarkable economic and social benefits.
