146 vendors gather together for a lively event – Tainan Xinhua Lunar New Year Street Market opens on the 31st!

The 2016 Tainan Xinhua Lunar New Year Street Market takes place from January 31 to February 6 in Xinhua Old Street!This year, there are a total of 146 stalls, to make it more convenient for consumers to shop for Lunar New Year goods,the vendors are categorized by type for the first time, with dried goods, festive items, gifts, and snacks divided intofour sections.Visitors can come to Tainan’s Xinhua area for a fun trip while also enjoying the excitement of buying New Year supplies.

The Xinhua Lunar New Year Street Market has entered its fifth year, not only becoming one of Tainan City’s iconic Lunar New Year events but also successfully boosting tourism in the Xinhua District. Mayor Lai Qing-de stated,this year’s main venue is themed “Harvest”, and for the first time, the market is sectioned by category into four areas, which will effectively reduce the time shoppers spend searching for items and allow them to purchase all their New Year essentials in one go.

In addition,the Tainan City Government has partnered with the 4G mobile commerce platform my phone shopping to sell various Lunar New Year Market products online, expanding service reach so that consumers across the country can purchase goods from the Xinhua Lunar New Year Street Market. For transportation, smart electric vehicles and bicycle shuttle services are also available.

The Tainan City Government announced that this year’s scratch card grand prizes include electric bicycles, mobile phones, and Giant bicycles,and shoppers who spend 800, 1,000, or 2,000 NT dollars can exchange for souvenirs such as good-luck amulets, Dapijiang Cultural Park postcards, and storage bags.There will also be regular promotional activities like “limited-time half-price deals” and “1 NT auctions.” More information can be found onthe Tainan City Governmentwebsite.
