Shennong Street
Shennong Street is Tainan City's most well-preserved historic street, where a roughly 100-meter-long stretch retains the architectural façades from the Qing Dynasty and Japanese colonial periods. Beautiful old houses, creative cuisine, and boutique homestays come together to create a uniquely charming Shennong Street.
This lovely old street emits a distinctive hipster atmosphere, attracting many specialty shops and cultural and creative stores. The food scene on Shennong Street is also a major highlight—for example, Sams soft-serve ice cream, which is only open on weekends, and Heichuang Studio, a popular dessert shop from northern Taiwan, chose to open its first Tainan branch, "Haiqiu Studio," right here on Shennong Street, showcasing just how uniquely appealing this place really is.

Anping Old Street
Most tourists visiting Tainan will set aside a day to stroll through Anping Old Street. Food lovers will be thoroughly satisfied here—shrimp rolls, shrimp crackers, oyster fritters, leek pancakes, lemon tofu pudding, pan-fried buns, and preserved fruits are all must-try delicacies on the checklist of many gourmets. About 100 meters long, Jingliao Old Street is located in Wumile Community, Houpi District, Tainan. On Jingliao Old Street, you’ll find cotton quilt shops, clock shops, and floral fabrics from grandmothers’ eras—all over 50 years old—as well as traditional farming tools provided by villagers. With its rich old-world charm, it’s one of the area’s biggest draws.

Qiaonan Old Street
In recent years, the extremely popular Moon River Port Lantern Festival has been held at Qiaonan Old Street. Walk to the end of the old street and you’ll arrive right at the festival grounds. The street is filled with delicious eateries—be sure to try saltwater noodles, scallion meat pies, health cakes, and stinky tofu while you’re here. The old houses on the street are very well preserved, and the entire row of historic buildings has a lot of character.

Xinhua Old Street
Xinhua Old Street boasts a wide variety of delicious foods and has been featured on many food programs. Xinhua Sesame Cakes at Xinhua Street Office are made fresh to order, drawing long lines—with even locals stopping by, often buying ten at a time. Nearby, Ye Makai Fried Chicken offers a subtle hint of traditional Chinese medicine flavor, with crispy, juicy chicken that’s another must-try queue-worthy dish in Xinhua.
