“How can I drink something this cute?” When the drink is served, girls often gasp in delight. Located on Xida Road in Hsinchu City, Painting Coffee has been around since 2014, winning over many customers with its various cartoon embossed latte arts. Recently, the super-popular “Kanahei” designs have become the shop’s hottest requested option, with an almost perfect recreation that looks like it jumped right out of the image. Many fans take photos with their Kanahei plush toys, calling the experience super healing.

In addition to the LINE-famous Kanahei, you can also choose from over 100 patterns such as Brown (the bear), the Rabbit, Kitty, Moomin, the Three-Eyed Monster, SpongeBob, cats, and Snoopy. Cartoon characters pop cutely over the rim of the cup, seemingly lounging right inside your drink, prompting girls to rush to post on IG.

All 3D latte art is handcrafted by the shop owner, Xiao An, and can be made for both hot and cold drinks. Shop owner Ms. Zeng said that making 3D latte art is very time-consuming, and customers often request custom designs, which may require a wait of 1 to 2 hours. But when they see the final product, it’s all worth the wait.

Many customers come specifically for the 3D latte art, and something special is that if you want both 3D and 2D latte art in one drink, you’ll need to pair it with a light meal such as a pancake, thick toast, or panini. The shop isn’t large, with just 8 tables accommodating about 25 people, so there’s a 100-minute time limit.

Shop owner Ms. Zeng said that because so many customers want to learn 3D latte art, they plan to offer a 3-hour workshop in April, with fees around NT$4,000–5,000. Friends who want to learn 3D latte art should keep an eye on theirfan pageupdates.
