It’s that time of year again when the forest glows with tiny dots of green light as fireflies emerge. Hsinhua National Botanical Garden, recognized as one of the “Eight Scenic Spots and Ten Attractions of New Southern Taiwan,” has also entered its firefly-viewing season. From now until May 31, every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting at 6 PM, the public is welcome to come and admire the beautiful sight of fireflies dancing through the night.

Hsinhua National Botanical Garden boasts Taiwan’s largest mahogany forest, which is why it’s listed among Tainan’s Eight Scenic Spots and Ten Attractions. Every April and May, the green glow from the tails of fireflies flitting through the forest creates a magical scene. The “Hsinhua Firefly Fun” event, led by professional guides, offers both ecological insights and the chance to witness the spectacular dance of fireflies.

The event operates on a reservation basis, and the garden has introduced four different tour packages. Not only can you stay overnight in the botanical garden and enjoy its rare tranquility, but you’ll also be treated to a special firefly-themed dinner to make your evening even more memorable.
