The Former Site of the Central Committee of the Yu’e Border Region is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

0 The Former Site of the Central Committee of the Yu’e Border Region is located in Wuwan, Group 1, Xiaohuanling Village, Xinxishi Town, Jingshan County. The site consists of two courtyards, east and west, covering an area of 650 square meters.

In mid-November 1939, the Central China Bureau decided to establish a new Yu’e Border Region Party Committee in central Hubei to unify the leadership of party organizations in three areas. The committee members included Zheng Weisan, Chen Shaomin, -, Tao Zhu, Ren Zhibin, Yang Xuecheng, and others. The party committee’s headquarters was stationed at Bazimen in Jingshan. In October 1940, - led the border region party committee’s headquarters to relocate to Xiaohuanling. 0 The Yu’e Border Region Committee stayed in Xiaohuanling for two years, making it the leading center of the anti-Japanese struggle in the Yu’e Border Region.

The site consists of two connected traditional late Qing Dynasty Chinese-style courtyard residences, built with brick and wood, facing south. The east courtyard housed the headquarters office and meeting rooms, while the west courtyard was the residence of comrades -, Chen Shaomin, as well as guards, buglers, and other staff. The east courtyard has three courtyards and two patios, is 14 meters wide and 20.9 meters deep, and consists of 14 rooms including the entrance hall, corridor hall, main hall, central room, front room, rear room, and side rooms. The front eaves of the building are constructed with blue brick walls, while the sides and rooms are made of adobe bricks. The front and back of the central room are partitioned with latticed doors, and the patio is paved with blue flagstones, with two steps on either side of the rear patio made of blue flagstones. The west courtyard is built adjacent to the east courtyard, with two courtyards and one patio, is 17.3 meters wide and 18.9 meters deep, and consists of the central room, main room, side rooms, and patio.

In May 2013, the State Council (State Council Document [2013] No. 13) announced the Former Site of the Central Committee of the Yu’e Border Region as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Xiaohuanling Village: Xiaohuanling Village is located in the northern part of Xinxishi Town, bordering Xiangji Village of Lulin Town to the north, Zhongtai and Gaojian Villages of Lulin Town to the east, and bordering Yangji Town to the southwest. With an average elevation of over 800 meters, it is situated along the Jinglv Tourism Route and is distributed in a strip shape.

Population Status: The village administers 4 villager groups with 186 households and a population of 7,011. There are 2,156 people working away from home, 4 empty-nest elderly, 3 left-behind children, and 21 rural low-income households with 28 people.
