The Lushan Tianlongchi Scenic Area spans 60 square kilometers, characterized by beautiful mountains and clear waters, ever-changing seasonal scenery, rich vegetation, and numerous striking peaks. With murmuring streams and fragrant blooms, it houses over 80 attractions such as Sword-Cleft Rock, Heavenly Scripture Pavilion, Zither-Playing Terrace, Emperor Yao Statue, Tianlong Waterfall, Wood-Stone Bond, Heavenly Dragon Pool, and Golden Toad Gazing at the Moon. Each step reveals a classic and timeless legend, and every sight embodies a symbol of traditional Chinese culture.

Pingdingshan is the birthplace of Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) culture, and Lushan Tianlongchi is a shining pearl within this cultural heritage. Among the undulating mountain ranges of Tianlongchi Scenic Area, there stands one exceptionally unique mountain. Its vast and continuous form resembles roaring river waves, towering several times higher than the surrounding peaks. Atop the high crest of these waves rises a peak shaped like a carp unwilling to remain in the water, yearning to soar into the sky. Watch as it gathers all its strength to leap—its body shooting straight upward, its tail still brushing the spray, its open mouth seemingly letting out a joyous cry. At the summit of Tianlongchi lies a lake named Tianlongchi. According to ancient legend, it was formed when the Fish Basket Guanyin shed her earthly form and ascended to the heavens. The sacred image of Guanyin departed, but the carp, unwilling to fall back into the rivers and seas, leaped mightily, soaring through the clouds. Upon touching the rain and mist, it transformed into a dragon. The dragon that resides in Tianlongchi is said to be that very carp-turned-dragon. Remarkably, no matter how severe the drought, the water in the pool has never dried up. Locals in Pingdingshan often bring their children to hike and worship by the lake. The site sees a constant flow of visitors daily, who pray for their children’s academic success and the fulfillment of the cherished wish to "leap the dragon gate like a carp." It is said to be highly efficacious. During drought seasons, local residents visit Tianlongchi to pray for rain and blessings, and their wishes are consistently fulfilled.
