Jiaozan Mountain

Jiaozan Mountain, also known as Jiao Mountain, is located 15 kilometers west of Tumen Office in Lushan County, Henan Province, with an elevation of 1,289 meters. It is said to be the stronghold where General Jiaozan of the Song Dynasty

set up his mountain kingdom. The mountain features remnants such as ancient fortress walls, suspension bridges, and Horse-Racing Ridge; it also boasts a variety of natural landscapes including Dressing Tower, Homesick Terrace, Dragon Pool, Wind-Exhaling and Wind-Sucking Caves, Mianmu Pool, Red Stone Arch, and White Stone Cliff. The area is home to rare animals such as wild boars, antelopes, grass deer, and masked palm civets, as well as bird species like golden pheasants, Lady Amherst's pheasants, mountain chickens, and Sand Monks. Additionally, over 500 kinds of valuable medicinal herbs grow here, including Bupleurum, Forsythia, Eucommia, and Golden Hairpin. The mountain is also abundant in natural fungi such as black fungus, shiitake mushrooms, silver ear fungus, mushrooms, and lingzhi.

In spring, the mountain is covered with blooming flowers such as Forsythia, Cornus, mountain peach, mountain apricot, and azaleas, filling the air with fragrance. In summer, the lush greenery makes it a perfect summer retreat, where you can bathe in streams and catch fish. In autumn, wild fruits are everywhere—persimmons, kiwis, sand pears, and mountain grapes are within easy reach. In winter, the mountain is blanketed in snow, adorned with stunning natural ice formations such as icicles and rime.
