The Former Site of the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee is located on Yan’an Street in Zhugou Town, 32 kilometers west of Queshan County, Henan Province. It includes various institutions established in Zhugou by the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Henan Provincial Committee of the CPC, and the Rear Office of the Eighth Regiment of the Fourth Detachment of the New Fourth Army.

In November 1938, the Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixth CPC Central Committee decided to establish the Central China Bureau, responsible for the Party’s work in the regions of Henan, Hubei, Anhui, and Jiangsu north of the Yangtze River. Members included - (using the alias Hu Fu), Zhu Rui, Zhu Lizhi, Peng Xuefeng, and Zheng Weisan, with - also serving as secretary. The bureau was headquartered in Zhugou Town, then the location of the Henan Provincial Committee of the CPC. In January 1939, - arrived in Zhugou to lead the resistance efforts in the Central China region.

The Central China Bureau eradicated the influence of Wang Ming’s opportunist line within the Party and the military in the Central China region and correctly implemented the Party’s policy of the anti-Japanese national united front. In Zhugou Town, it established a new recruits unit—essentially a Party school—as well as training classes for political instructors, communications, medical services, women, and youth, cultivating a large number of revolutionary cadres. It also founded the Central China Bureau Printing House and newspapers such as "Xiao Xiaoxi" (Little News) and "Fu Xiao Bao" (Dawn Daily). In November 1939, due to the needs of the ongoing war effort, the Central China Bureau left Zhugou Town and moved eastward.

The site faces south and is a traditional quadrangle courtyard composed of twelve rooms. Along the street are three thatched cottages, with the main gate and passageway in the middle. Inside the courtyard, there are three rooms each on the northern, eastern, and western sides, all nine rooms built with gray bricks, blue tiles, and a flush-gable roof in a brick-and-wood structure. The site currently preserves the office of the Central China Bureau, the living quarters of - and others, and also hosts a revolutionary memorial museum. (National Cultural Heritage Administration)

The Former Site of the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee covers an area of 45,630 square meters.
