Langling City

Langling City is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

Langling City (Queshan County), located thirty-five li southwest of Queshan County, was the site of a county government in the Han Dynasty. Emperor Guangwu enfeoffed Zang Gong here as a marquis. It remained under Yannan Commandery during the Jin Dynasty. Emperor Wu enfeoffed He Zeng as the Duke of Langling here. The Song Dynasty continued this arrangement before abolishing it and establishing Anchang County. According to the "Song Annals," Sui Prefecture had Sui City Commandery, which administered Anchang County. The "Records" of Wei Shou state that Anchang County belonged to Chunan Commandery. The Sui Dynasty re-established it as Langshan County, incorporating Anchang County. In the eleventh year of the Yuanhe era of the Tang Dynasty, when suppressing Wu Yuanji, the Tang-Deng military commander Gao Xiamu reported defeating HuaiXi troops at Langshan. In the twelfth year, when Li attacked Cai, he sent forces to raid Langshan and defeated them, then later launched a night attack on Cai Prefecture and dispatched troops to cut off the Langshan road — this place is now the current county seat.
