The ruins of the Chu King City in Wuhu are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

The ruins of the Chu King City in Wuhu are located in Wuhu County, Wuhu City, dating back to the Warring States period to the Western Han Dynasty.

Located in Huangchi Village, Huaqiao Town, Wuhu County, it was an ancient city from the Warring States period to the Western Han Dynasty, also the site of the Western Han county seat of Wuhu and the ancient capital of Jiuzi. The ancient city was built against a mountain, with parts of the city wall still preserved. Covering an area of nearly 120,000 square meters, the terrain is higher in the east and lower in the west, with clear remains of four ancient city gates. Stepping into the city, remnants of Qin bricks and Han tiles are found everywhere, and artifacts from the Tang and Song dynasties can easily be discovered, making it a veritable small-scale museum.

The Chu King City ruins are a city site from the Warring States to the Western Han period. In 1985, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage site by the county government, in September 2012 as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the municipal government, and in December 2012 as a provincial-level cultural heritage site by the provincial government. The Chu King City ruins are located in Shantou Natural Village, Huangchi Administrative Village, Huaqiao Town, and part of Nongzhuang Natural Village, Chengdong Administrative Village. The city is built against a mountain, with the existing ruins stretching approximately 380 meters from east to west and 310 meters from north to south, covering an area of about 117,800 square meters. The city walls are 8.5 meters high, with a base thickness of 18 meters and a wall width of 3–5 meters, featuring gaps in the southeast, southwest, northwest, and northeast directions. Excavations at this site have yielded artifacts such as stone axes, pottery tripod feet, pottery gui vessels, stamped hard pottery fragments, ant nose coins, pottery pipes, pottery dou vessels, rope-patterned fragments, pottery tube tile fragments, wuzhu coins, and pottery and porcelain items. Bronze swords have also been discovered nearby.

In 2012, the ruins of the Chu King City in Wuhu were designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Anhui Province.

Huangchi Village: Huangchi Village is located in the northwest of Huaqiao Town, bordering Liulang Town across the river to the west and adjacent to the Wuxi-Shanghai Canal to the north. The village administers 16 villager groups, with a population of 3,869 and 68 Communist Party members. The terrain consists of semi-hilly and semi-lake areas, with arable land spanning 4,800 mu, over 2,000 mu of tidal flats, 800 mu of mountainous land, and 1,018 mu of fishable water surfaces.
