The world’s most beautiful bay and the most dazzling fireworks—Penghu’s Maritime Fireworks Festival is about to begin!

The “Penghu Maritime Fireworks Festival” will officially kick off tomorrow (April 18). In 2013, it marks the celebration of Penghu County joining the international “Most Beautiful Bays in the World” organization under the name “Taiwan’s Penghu Bay.” Therefore, the “2013 Penghu Maritime Fireworks Festival” takes “The Most Beautiful Bay, The Most Spectacular Fireworks” as its theme, running for two and a half months starting April 18, with a total of 20 events.

The opening event will start at 7:30 pm. In addition to Penghu-themed mascots, the Cactus Baby mascot from Pengfang Duty-Free Shop will interact with the public. There will also be Facebook check-in activities where participants can redeem exclusive fireworks-themed souvenirs and win prizes while enjoying the show. The stage performance will be hosted by TV personality Huang Zi Jiao, featuring performances by singers Vivian Chow, Lee Sheng-jie, and A-Lin, delivering a romantic and joyful opening night for the festival.

As for the highlight of the festival—the “aerial fireworks display”—it will begin at 9:00 pm with the Xiyi Rainbow Bridge as the backdrop, lasting for 20 minutes. This year, the display is managed by the champion vendor of the “2012 Miaoli National Day Fireworks Competition,” and for the first time in an offshore location, 16T aerial fireworks shells will be launched. These shells have a blast radius of 300 meters, combined with underwater bursts, shaped fireworks, and surround-sound effects. Paired with Penghu’s unique bay environment, they create a breathtaking, up-close fireworks experience unlike any other.

In addition to warmly welcoming friends from around the world to Penghu to witness the stunning spectacle of fireworks set against the vibrant Rainbow Bridge, the Penghu County Government also urges the public to refer only to official announcements on the Penghu County Government website or the “Penghu Leisure Travel” website run by the Penghu County Government Tourism Department for information on the “2013 Penghu Maritime Fireworks Festival.” Do not trust unverified online event information to avoid missing out on this once-a-year opportunity due to misinformation.
