On November 2, the 5th China Automobile (RV) Camping Conference, themed “Camping the World, Wuhu as Home,” kicked off in Wuhu. Over the course of four days, the event comprehensively showcased the development achievements of China’s national sports, fitness, and leisure industry under supply-side reform, centered around seven highlight segments: Exhibition, Forum, Signing, Evaluation, Travel, Competition, and Outreach. The conference was jointly organized by the Federation of Automobile Sports of China, the Anhui Provincial Sports Bureau, the Anhui Provincial Tourism Development Commission, and the Wuhu Municipal People's Government. Two Wuhu-born athletes—Xu Haifeng, China’s first Olympic gold medalist, and Wu Sha, champion in women’s pole vault at both the National Games and Asian Championships—took on the role of image ambassadors for this camping conference.
The China Automobile (RV) Camping Conference is one of the most professional, authoritative, and industry-guiding brands of automobile and RV camping events in China and has been successfully held for four consecutive editions. Focusing on the seven highlight segments of Exhibition, Forum, Signing, Evaluation, Travel, Competition, and Outreach, the conference prominently featured a series of activities including exhibitions of automobiles (RVs) and camping equipment, displays of star-rated campsites, industrial development forums, the 2018 National Automobile Self-Drive Camp Attack Arrow Competition, RV self-driving tours of Wuhu scenic spots, grassroots visits by Olympic champions and sports stars, and youth cage football and vehicle model competitions. The event attracted participation from over 120 enterprises related to the manufacturing of automobiles, RVs, and camping equipment, more than 30 self-drive clubs, and over 200 automobiles and RVs. For the first time, a national on-site investment promotion meeting for the camping industry was included. It officially released the newly revised industry standard for automobile self-drive sport camps issued by the General Administration of Sport, along with content such as the national provincial camp development plan and a series of premium self-drive sport travel routes. A major signing ceremony for the camping industry was also held.
At the opening ceremony of the camping conference, authoritative institutions such as the Federation of Automobile Sports of China presented plaques to representatives of automobile and motorcycle associations from various provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, awarding stars to three-, four-, and five-star campsites. The Federation of Automobile Sports of China and the Wuhu Municipal People's Government signed an agreement. The two parties will focus on four major areas—campsite layout, event activities, integration of sports and tourism, and industrial clusters—to carry out extensive strategic cooperation and jointly promote the development of the camping industry.
This marks the first time the China Automobile (RV) Camping Conference has been held in East China and the Yangtze River Delta region. As the host city of the 5th conference, Wuhu is one of the cities in China with the strongest automotive culture. It is home to Chery, which holds the record for the highest cumulative sales and exports among China’s own-brand passenger car manufacturers. Chery owns multiple brands, including Chery Auto, Chery Jaguar Land Rover, Qoros Auto, and Cowin Auto, making the automotive industry the leading sector among Wuhu’s four pillar industries. Wuhu boasts significant geographical advantages, efficient transportation, beautiful ecological environment, and rich cultural and tourism resources. The city continuously demonstrates integrity in civil administration, ambition in riverfront development, refinement in urban vibrancy, charm amidst half-city landscapes, a blend of Eastern and Western influences, and a foundation for a high quality of life—all of which have laid a solid groundwork for the successful hosting of this conference.
