Henglang Pagoda

Henglang Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Henglang Pagoda is located in Wuhu County, Wuhu City, and dates back to the Southern Song Dynasty.

The ancient Henglang Pagoda was originally built in the first year of the Deyou era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1275 AD), underwent major renovations during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, and was constructed on the mountainside of Henglang Mountain, at the base of Tazigang (formerly known as Zhuyuan). It covers a ground area of 11.6 square meters, stands approximately 29 meters tall, has six sides and seven stories, and is built entirely from specially made large blue bricks. Each floor and each side features a round arched door, and the exterior walls are inlaid with decorative patterns. Visitors can climb the tower via the building’s levels to reach the top. After enduring over 800 years of weathering and the ravages of historical warfare, the inner chamber has been destroyed, but the exterior patterns are still faintly visible. The top spire tilts slightly northward, appearing as if it might fall but never quite does — a uniquely striking feature. The pagoda stands majestically atop the mountain peak, facing the main summit of Henglang Mountain. It is clearly visible from dozens of miles away and exudes an ancient charm.

In 2012, Henglang Pagoda was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Anhui Province.

Protected area: A circular zone with the pagoda at its center and a radius of 25 meters.

Construction control zone: A five-meter buffer surrounding the protected area.
