Japan’s super-popular "office chair race" competition will be held in Tainan on April 24th. After registration opened at local shops on Zhengxing Street in Tainan, all slots were quickly filled. The group of Zhengxing Street shop owners, known as the "Zhengxing Gang," even traveled to the birthplace of office chair racing — Kyotanabe City in Kyoto — to compete on March 26th. Although they didn’t win any prizes, the Japanese organizers made an exception to let the Taiwanese “Zhengxing Gang” team join the finals, and they even appeared in local media coverage.
Vietjet Air announces new HCMC-Kuala Lumpur route starting June 1
Vietjet Air has announced that it will launch a new route between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur on June 1. Travelers planning trips across Southeast Asia will now have an additional flight option.
Flying Taipei-San Francisco on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner for just NT$22,000
United Airlines announced that starting March 28, it will operate the Taipei-San Francisco route with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, becoming the first airline to run daily flights on this route with the 787-9, replacing the previous Boeing 777-200 model.
The Japanese restaurant at Meifu Hotel, Seisan, will open its tableside kappo service on April 2, priced at NT$3,800 per person.
Although Meifu Hotel began trial operations on January 9, currently only the first-floor Cafe Harmony buffet, Chaoyuefeng restaurant, and the second-floor Taiwanese cuisine restaurant Mi Xiang are open. The European restaurant GMT and the Japanese restaurant Seisan are still under preparation. However, starting April 2, Seisan will open its tableside kappo service, offering an à la carte omakase-style menu at NT$3,800 per person.
13.5-meter Asia’s tallest all-transparent “extreme slide” to open in Tainan on the 31st
Asia’s tallest extreme slide will officially open on the 31st at the Shihku Ren Tang Cultural and Creative Park in Tainan. With a total height of 13.5 meters, the slide is taller than the 7-second, five-story slide in Kaohsiung. It features a semi-transparent design and includes two full loops before reaching the ground. As for how fast riders will go, that remains to be seen once it officially opens.
