Limited to 100 people per day！The "Frog Appreciation Season" in Taomi Village kicks off on April 1

Nighttime frog-watching tours in Taomi Eco-Village are now open for registration！After the 921 earthquake, the landscape changed, but the area still retains abundant local ecological habitats. Taomi is rich in ecological resources, home to all 23 native frog species in Taiwan, which has also become a major draw for visitors.

This year, the Taomi Rest Area has collaborated with the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration to plan multiple frog-watching routes, conducting nighttime frog-appreciation activities. As various frogs chorus together after nightfall, they create a unique, locally exclusive symphony. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration stated that to avoid disturbing the ecology, only 100 visitors are allowed per day.

The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration also noted that some habitats in the Taomi Caoni Wetland may face light pollution risks due to land leveling and planting. To compensate for the habitat environment and ensure proper restoration, the area will not jointly promote firefly-watching activities this year. Instead, the highly popular "Nighttime Frog-Watching" event will be offered, along with DIY lunchboxes, for visitors to experience.

2016 Sun Moon Lake Taomi Frog Appreciation Season
I. Event Dates: April 1 to May 31, by phone reservation only, limited to 100 people per day.

(1) DIY Lunchbox:
1. Time: Check-in at 16:15–16:30; Experience from 16:30–17:30
2. Fee: NT$150 per person (original price NT$220 per person)

(2) Taomi Frog-Watching:
1. Time: Check-in at 18:30–19:00; Experience from 19:00 onwards (duration approximately 60–90 minutes)
2. Fee: NT$100 per person (includes briefing, guided tour, insurance, and environmental maintenance fees). Visitors may bring their own rain boots and flashlights, or rent them on-site (rain boots NT$20 per pair, flashlights NT$30 each).
