Qingzhangshan Hot Spring

Qingzhangshan Hot Spring is located next to the market area of Jiangtou Town, about 13 kilometers from downtown Nanxiong. It is easily accessible via direct public buses from the city. This hot spring is a fault spring, formed approximately two to three million years ago. Originally, it naturally gushed out in the Jiangtou River, flowing continuously “neither overflowing nor drying up, just like the sun and the moon” for thousands of years. In the past, villagers would often dig pits in the river’s sandy banks to create pools for bathing. Later, due to fluorite mining and groundwater extraction, the spring stopped flowing naturally. However, hot spring water still emerges from underground mine shafts, maintaining a year-round temperature of around 50 degrees Celsius, with some areas reaching as high as 60 or even 80 degrees. The water is pure and, like the hot springs in Conghua, contains more than ten types of trace elements beneficial to the human body. Regular bathing here offers excellent health benefits, including strengthening the body, improving skin, promoting beauty, and extending life. In the winter of 2000, the Jiangtou Town government made full use of local resources and invested in developing Qingzhangshan Hot Spring as a tourism attraction. Covering a total area of over 7,000 square meters, two buildings were constructed along the riverside against the mountain, offering more than 30 various types of suite bathrooms. A hot spring open-air swimming pool was also built. The hot spring area includes a dance hall, karaoke rooms, a restaurant, a parking lot, and facilities for male and female wellness services. Visitors can fully enjoy the unique experience of the hot springs while relaxing and having leisure fun. The development of this hot spring has not only increased the town’s collective economic income—bringing in over one million yuan annually—but has also significantly boosted other local industries.

Qingzhangshan Volcanic Crater has an elevation of 917 meters, surrounded by bamboo forests covering tens of thousands of acres at an altitude of 806 meters. To provide visitors with a resting place while enjoying the bamboo scenery, an Observation Bamboo Pavilion and a Snow Viewing Pavilion have been built, allowing people to admire different beautiful views in various seasons.

During the hot summer months, swimming in the natural swimming area is an especially delightful activity. The naturally formed swimming area has crystal-clear water where fish and shrimp can be seen.

The scenic area features Qingzhang Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 917 meters. At its summit lies a large crater spanning nearly 100 acres, known as the “Heavenly Lake.” The lake continuously emits spring water year-round and is home to wild water lilies that are both beautiful and fragrant. At the foot of Qingzhang Mountain, there are natural caves such as Lion Rock, Pushing Mill Stone Bank, and Eagle Rock, all spectacular and magnificent. The road has been extended to the top of Qingzhang Mountain, stretching 9 kilometers in total. The scenic area not only has hot springs but also the Zhaixia Reservoir, which has a capacity of 1 million cubic meters, making it a great summer destination. “Soak in hot springs in winter, swim in the reservoir in summer”—offering immense joy. “Bathe in natural hot springs, enjoy a wonderful life.”
