Yancheng District is located at the estuary of the Love River in the southwestern part of Kaohsiung City. It is the smallest administrative district in Kaohsiung. It was formed by land reclamation using silt and sand from the harbor bottom during the construction of Kaohsiung Port. Though it has lost some of its former bustling glory, it has gained a wealth of artistic and cultural charm and is now one of the must-visit spots for travelers coming to Kaohsiung. Located in Yancheng District, the Kaohsiung City History Museum carries the trajectory of the city's development and the imprints of its citizens' lives. It was also the historical site of the 228 Incident. Both its exterior and essence reflect Kaohsiung’s glory, scars, and past. Therefore, the municipal government transformed the historic site into a history museum, making it Taiwan’s first locally operated history museum.

Covered in trees and green lawns, the Peace Park is lush and green, making it an ideal place for citizens to relax and engage in recreational activities. This park, which carries historical memories, is located by the Love River and near the site of the 228 Incident. The gentle flowing river washes away the dust of history, reminding people to forgive—but not forget—tragic events of the past. Future generations must respect the value of life and peace in order to promote greater ethnic harmony, democracy, and freedom in Taiwan.

Built in 1976, the park overpass spans the railway tracks, connecting Gushan and Yancheng. The old harbor line, which had been in operation for a full century, ceased service in 2008. Though it was originally set to fade into history, the municipal government preserved 38 sections of the old railway tracks and transformed them into the “Harbor Star Railway Cultural Park.” Combined with Yancheng’s Pier-2 Art Center, it has become a favorite spot for both locals and visitors to Kaohsiung.
