Most Affordable Kaohsiung City Bikes Surpass 160 Stations

Boasting the highest density, widest coverage, lowest rental rates, and most convenient usage in the nation, Kaohsiung’s public bicycle rental system has announced it has now reached 160 stations. With around 200,000 rides per month, the system aims to expand to 300 stations across the city by the end of next year.

The Kaohsiung Environmental Protection Bureau held an event titled “Active Living, A City Fit for Cycling.” On the day, 100 cyclists were invited to ride public bikes around the Kaohsiung Aozihdi Forest Park, symbolizing Kaohsiung as a bike-friendly city. Cyclist Mr. Wu said that City Bike is a great help for his daily commute. He used to take the MRT from the Gaoxian Sanduo Station to Zuoying but has since switched to riding a City Bike. This change saves him NT$60 per day, adding up to about NT$1,500 per month.

On the 27th, officials including Chen Jufeng, head of the City Bike management authority and deputy director of the Kaohsiung Environmental Protection Bureau, pedaled bikes on stage—each pedal stroke lighting up a station. Together, they illuminated all 160 stations, symbolizing the expanding network of rental spots with a future goal of 300 stations. Chen Jufeng noted that City Bike rental stations are located near MRT exits, schools, government offices, and various tourist attractions. The first hour of cycling is free, and users can rent bikes using an EasyCard or credit card, with 24-hour availability.
