The Yellow Rubber Duck exhibition in Kaohsiung has generated huge business opportunities. The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau and local hotels and businesses launched a golden diamond duck raffle. Today’s draw revealed the lucky winner of the golden diamond duck worth over NT$500,000 — a man surnamed Tsai from Kaohsiung. When informed via live connection that he had won the grand prize, Mr. Tsai was initially in disbelief, exclaiming, “So lucky!”

The Yellow Rubber Duck was displayed at Kaohsiung Harbor’s Glory Pier for a month. To welcome visitors to see the duck, explore Kaohsiung, and spend locally, the organizers offered prizes including accommodation vouchers, one pure gold duck weighing five taels and inlaid with two 30-point diamonds, valued at approximately NT$500,000, as well as three one-tael gold ducks each worth NT$100,000.

Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng and representatives from the Kaohsiung City Tourism Association drew the raffle prizes in the afternoon. The golden diamond duck worth over NT$500,000 was won by a man surnamed Tsai from Kaohsiung. Although he was initially shocked upon being informed of his win via live connection, he eventually said, “So lucky!” Director Hsu’s wife also won accommodation vouchers worth around NT$13,000, which he immediately offered to donate, prompting a re-draw.

Hsu Chuan-sheng noted that the Yellow Rubber Duck exhibition at Kaohsiung’s Glory Pier lasted 32 days and attracted 3.9 million visitors, successfully generating NT$1.2 billion in tourism revenue — all exceeding expectations. There will be two more opportunities to see the Yellow Rubber Duck in Kaohsiung, he added, with exhibitions planned for this year and next.
