The Temple of Lady Zhang Jiuling’s Wife in Meiling is a cultural tourism attraction.

To commemorate the sacrificial spirit of Lady Qi Yifen, wife of Zhang Jiuling, a Tang Dynasty chancellor, who helped her husband by chiseling away at the day-splitting, night-reuniting boulder atop Meiling Peak (Meiguan Pass) — eventually tearing open her abdomen to offer her blood in a ritual to the mountain deity — this embodies the saying, “Behind every successful man stands a great woman.”

Transportation

By car: Depart from Shaoguan, enter the Shaoguan–Ganzhou Expressway, exit at Meiguan Ancient Road, then turn onto National Highway G323; drive straight along G323 and look for the sign on your right for the “Meiguan Ancient Road Scenic Area Parking Lot.”

By bus: Take a direct bus from the square of Shaoguan East Railway Station to Nanxiong City Bus Terminal, then transfer to a local bus heading to Meiguan Ancient Road.
